Played with these when I was young, saw the trailer, thought it would be a joke, gave it a chance and now I'm pretty excited for this lol. I think the poor reviews this movie received are a reflection of a jaded, entirely-adult community of reviewers. It wasn't perfect - it was somewhat light on jokes that my 5-year-old understood and the live action sequences were a little tense and ill-fitting, but made for acceptable bookend sequences. The screenplay was quite good, and the voice acting was superb. The songs weren't the focal point of the movie & kind of began and ended without much adieu, which I actually preferred over the jarring music video feel of the songs in Frozen/2. Gaffigan's character felt like he wrote his dialogue himself and thus it was a particular highpoint. The joke at the end about the other dinosaurs recognizing the main one was an excellent end to the movie. The entire sequence with Radcliffe was very good viewing material, though maybe not as much for young kids.

The best thing going for this movie is the Animation style. There is at least a good amount of effort put into it and it's not an ugly movie from that point of view. I thought the scenes outside the Playmobil universe were really awful like that kid who was bad at acting. The Playmobil universe stuff fairs a tiny bit better, but it was still very predictable and basically felt like a very watered down Lego Movie, with almost all of the jokes falling flat. The movie being a Musical did catch me off guard and I respect them trying, but honestly all the songs are forgettable. There's not really any memorable characters or locations either, which doesn't help alleviate the blandness at all.
Is Playmobil: The Movie the worst thing you could watch? Certainly not. However, the kids in my cinema were not laughing all that much in this movie, and the adults just didn't seem to be all that engaged watching this movie at all. This is a very straightforward story and at least the plot doesn't have too much pointless filler like some other Animated movies I've seen this year like The Queen's Corgi and The Secret Life of Pets 2. However, with The Angry Birds Movie 2 out at the same time, I'd feel that one is the better watch out of the two as the kids were having a great time watching that movie compared to Playmobil. In all honestly, I was kind of hoping Playmobil: The Movie might have been a decent Animated movie to watch, but sadly it's just a bit of a bore.

I love more movies like The abyss; The sphere; Dark city and all of the books instead of movies from Stephen King and Howard Phillips Lovecraf... So will this be in theatres or what. If you're looking to satisfy your disturbing creatures or people craving, this wont do it. The creatures or mutated people/animals just don't hit the spot. Perhaps due to low budget. They are gross, but not at the horrifying level. Better wow factor from The Void and both the Thing movies. Been trying to find a movie with real disturbing creatures since watching Thing and The Void. Something along the lines of DeadSpace creatures. This just didn't do it for me.
The flow of the story didn't capture me either. It was over-shadowed by bad acting. Or acting that didn't make sense or go along with the scene/mood. It was almost like they were playing people who were acting, if that makes sense. Nicholas Cage's acting just wasn't good and way too over dramatic to looney. Especially his "political" change in character when he would act out in rage.
The CGI and rushing of story just kind of made this movie seem like it was made in a day. Like everyone involved just did it for fun with no real expectation of the outcome.
Perhaps with more budget, the movie could have been longer and made with a more in depth story. If you liked the movie Annihilation (2018) this might entertain you. If you didn't care for Annihilation, like myself, you won't find this much better. Both tried too hard to be "intellectual" or "cosmic horror of the unknown.
Overall the movie was a descent time waster. I'd suggest to watch it for rent or when it becomes free.

Bonkers. Got invaded by “color” alien now... The best of Lovecraft's tales. One of my absolute favorite Lovecraft tales. It engulfs the Earth. Can you make a series of diablo to look exactly like that XD. “Unlike any seen on earth”. It reminds. e about Chich and Chong. WHEW. Thank God! I so wanted it to be good, I needed somebody to finally get a Lovecraft story right. Thanks for letting us know that we finally have some hope of film decently portraying Lovecraft's works.

The only mystery this movie has is the whereabouts of Nicholas Cage's neckline. Brilliantry depicted. I want Pickman's Model and Mountains of Madness as well. A big dose of weirdness and strangeness makes this an enjoyable flick. But is ruined with the typical "everything is destroyed for a five mile radius. but the hero survives hiding under a cardboard box" type ending... shouldve hid in the well. This legit feels like a fake trailer made by some YouTuber in 2015.

But I learned some time ago that a small German independent film company did try and called their version "Die Farbe" (The Color). So finding it here on Amazon got me very excited and I watched it for the first time today and I'm still blown away. I don't always like movies with a lot of subtitles, but this film had some English speakers, as well as some subtitles. But the director did not rely very heavily on dialogue but more "Showing" than "Telling" the story. It's a slow piece, yet it utilizes that pace to build tension and an atmosphere of growing isolation and danger. Some Lovecraft purists have complained that the entire story did not follow the story EXACTLY word for word, but little was left out. The film is to me a masterpiece, shot in Black and White, which also puts some people off. But it is done with a purpose and is used very effectively. There is no gore in this piece, but like Lovecraft's writing, we are given brief glimpses to tell you what's happening and then your own imagination can run wild and scare you even more. This film is brilliant in every respect. My only disappointment was that it was not longer. Still at 1 hour and 20 minutes or so, it tells a great story. The colorful settings and costumes and some good musical numbers help make "An American in Paris" an entertaining movie despite some noticeable weaknesses in the plot and the characters. It is often quite creative as well, especially in the music and dance sequences, with Gene Kelly, Leslie Caron, and Oscar Levant all getting some good chances to use their talents.
Kelly makes Jerry, his rather shallow character, work all right just by more or less being himself, and letting his talent take over. It would have been more satisfying if Jerry were a little easier to like, but Kelly makes up for a lot of that. Levant is enjoyable as Kelly's side-kick, and it's nice to see him get a number to himself. His orchestra routine is a creative, entertaining sequence that's not entirely unworthy of comparison with the amazing sequence in Buster Keaton's "The Playhouse. Caron is low-key, but engaging and talented.
The variety numbers are, of course, the highlights, and most of them are very good. It's topped off by an especially intricate sequence that uses color, settings, and the talents of the cast to good effect. It's easy to appreciate and enjoy, yet it's also clear that plenty of care and thought had to go into it.
In a similar way, the movie as a whole leaves a light, carefree impression, yet a fair amount of talent went into making it that way. It never quite comes together in the way that the finest musicals (such as "Singin' in the Rain" do, but it still has plenty to offer.

The first half was absolutely promising with an eerie atmosphere but once the hugely illogical story-line comes into play, I was praying for a brilliant twist at the end to explain all my questions. Suffice it to say, the twist was moronic and hugely unsatisfying. Acting, especially from Riley, was quite strong and poor Alicia Silverstone must be desperate for cash these days as her bit role was completely throwaway and required very little from her.
Yet another disappointment from the half-baked faux-goth bro-sis team. Let's hope this is their last film.

Nano-archimedes is a Technology Computer Aided Design tool (TCAD) for the simulation of various technology relevant situations involving the dynamics of electrons such as the transport in nanometer scale semiconductor devices (nanodevices) and the dynamics of N-body problems in quantum chemistry. It is based on the Signed Particle Formulation of quantum mechanics, a (computationally convenient) phase-space formalism which can simulate time-dependent quantum problems involving single- and many-body systems. nano-archimedes is based on the platform implemented for Archimedes (). The code is able to simulate time dependent, full quantum, multi-dimensional phenomena such as wave phase breaking and single electron ballistic transport with open boundary conditions, electron dynamics in molecular systems, etc. nano-archimedes runs both on serial and parallel machines and the parallelization scheme is based on MPI and OpenMP - two standard libraries for parallel calculations. The code is entirely written in C and can compile on a huge variety of machines without any particular effort. It is truly cross-platform. Many results have already been presented in conferences (e. g. LSSC, IMACS, SISPAD, IWCE, etc) and are submitted for publications. We post part of the results once they are published on this website. The source code is developed and maintained by Prof. Jean Michel Sellier, who is the developer and maintainer of several other GNU packages. If you have any particular need with the simulation of quantum systems - single and many-body - in the fields of nanoelectronics, quantum chemistry, molecular electronics, etc, or if you need a modification to the code of nano-archimedes (a different model, an extension/modification, a GUI, etc), we are here for you.
